Now would be as good a time as any i suppose to fess up to the fact that I am no longer a vegan...
I still eat much less meat, dairy & eggs but they have crept back somewhat. I occasionally indulge in meat eating esp in restaurants.

I also occasionally eat meals with cheese or dairy in them at home.

Will remain faithful to my beloved Earth Balance whipped soy spread instead of butter - and except for holidays involving other people I think Bill and I will refrain from eating meat there too.

I have gone back to eating some fish: anchovies, which I love, the occasional can of sardines. (Yes I am the only person I know who likes them). And now and then some shrimp--another restaurant treat. Oh and smoked salmon, which I also do love.

At some point I hope to begin blogging more regularly -- here are the latest pics from my flickr account - we've settled in to our little town house quite nicely and looking forward to our first Christmas here (and for a few days in Parma with Bill's mom).

Van Morrison's T.B. Sheets

During my morning walk the other day I heard on my iPod a song that I wasn't familiar with. It was Van Morrison's amazing, depressing song: T.B. sheets.
Here's a bit more on it.And here are the lyrics. It featured prominently in the movie Bringing Out the Dead by Martin Scorcese which I have not seen yet.

I just came across this book of Maori fairy tales, which looks rather interesting. Here's what the front page looks like.

Youzer!

Youzer! by cathie
Youzer!, a photo by cathie on Flickr.
When I walked to my workshop last Tuesday this is what greeted me as I walked along Spring St. The students who lived in the big houses, had left a ton of rubbish for someone else to clean up...to be honest I was disappointed that they could have done a slightly better job at cleaning up their mess...

A Sunday picture

Hansi - our old cat (17) likes to stay as close to me as possible. So I let him stay on the chair and pulled up the other one so we could sit next to each other as I read the Times. And yes I do use a ruler to read the Times--doesn't everyone???

A dirndl!

One of my German students who dances in a folk dance group in her hometown wore her dirndl to class one day and told us about it and showed us some videos of her folk-dance group. It was fun!

I've only had a chance to take him out once but he really enjoyed it.

A picture - almost a day - from now on plus occasional other stuff

I've decide to give up the whole "picture a day premise" which has just completely lost is's allure and appeal..instead I give to you "a picture almost everyday with some gaps in between" plus occasional other postings, especially I hope concerning my own "adventures in genealogy" one of the new hobbies I discovered during the year I took off from full-time college level teaching. Of course I have not been able to do much with it during the first year back on the clock here at Miami but I hope to get back to it more over the summer. Who new my family was so diverse, and interesting and big! So stay tuned trusty followers and see what's in store....
